Dr. Williams' journey into medicine began with the inspiration of his parents, who worked in orthotics. As he grew up, he became interested in musculoskeletal medicine and decided to pursue a career in this field.
He earned his medical degree with distinction in research from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. During his time there, he received the Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellowship, dedicating a year to fundamental science research.
Following medical school, Dr. Williams completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of California, Davis, in Sacramento, California. During his residency, he engaged in a research fellowship where he successfully secured multiple grants, including funding from the Orthopaedic Trauma Association to study fracture healing. His significant research contributions have earned him multiple awards, including honors for the best paper at three different conferences.
After residency, Dr. Williams further specialized in orthopedic surgery by undertaking two fellowships. The first fellowship was in orthopedic trauma at UC Davis, focusing on treating fractures of the hip, pelvis, and leg, as well as techniques for osteotomy and leg realignment. His second fellowship, dedicated to hip surgery, took place at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, Washington, where he concentrated on advanced hip procedures.
